Mr. Fussell-- He has Non-Hodgkin's' Lymphoma and in the picture was four weeks post lobectomy! How cool is that?? He is definitely a fighter!! Also- the theme for the Relay this year was "Celebrating More Birthday's"!
As part of the fundraising efforts you could but luminaries in honor or in memory of someone who battled/battles cancer. They lined most of the track and are used in the closing ceremony! While Gerald & I were walking our laps we looked at all the names and Grandpa was definitely a VERY loved fella!
Me and My Sweet Heart!! I LOVE when we volunteer and share our talents with others!! It's just another thing I love about US!

So they call this part the closing ceremony--but I'm not sure why because it's at 10PM and Relay doesn't end until 6AM. Nevertheless--What a BEAUTIFUL Ceremony! All the lights go out and everything else stands still, all the luminaries are lit and on the bleachers they had written the word "HOPE". People's names who have lost a battle to cancer followed by those currently fighting cancer are read. BEAUTIFUL! Then everyone walks a lap in honor!! This all was such a neat experience and we were lucky enough to give our time towards it!
